This weekend in Madison, WI:

(My friend Florin, who begins doctoral work in music this Fall at UW)

(Me on State St, Madison's most bustling avenue and hub of indulgence.  In fact, a Bangles' reunion concert played just the night before.)

(Either Lake Menona or Mendota. The terrace is incongruously west-coast, a stunning touch amid the cows and prevailing old-world, quainter architecture)   

(Back in Chicago; the Frank Gehry designed pavilion, or the cherry on top of the free Grant Park summer concerts.)

(Long-time Chicagoans might appreciate this little palimpsest of bygone retail glory days)
