Around the horn

Baritone Nathan Gunn wil be performing in Grant Park this week with a pair of season-ending concerts. I interviewed Gunn in this week's Time Out and tried my best not to focus too much on what others emphatically refer to as his "strapping physique." (Although couldn't avoid it entirely)  Be sure to see him in performances of Vaughan Williams (who he calls "ear candy"), Britten and John Adams on Friday and Saturday. I also covered for the Sun-Times the CSO farewell concert at Ravinia and a Tafelmusik fiesta in the Martin Theater.  Tomorrow I'll post my review of Argentinean pianist Ingrid Fliter's exceptional take on Chopin's 2nd Piano Concerto.  It's been a busy week, but that's the way we freelancers like it.
