Los Angeles? You need to get your ass to San Francisco for once. If you're going to go through the trouble of heading out to California at least go somewhere that has more than strip malls as cultural signposts.

You're right, Loquacious. But LA has its charms for me in the molds of PT Anderson and Raymond Chandler. I'm not a weather or nature guy, so SF has always appeared to me as a miniature of larger cities I've already lived in. LA would be a new experience altogether. Glad you stopped by.

I think you'd be surprised by what you'd find in SF. The culture is completely different than New York despite the fact that its also a cosmopolitan city. However, I was more than a little hard on LA. Consider it little more than a lingering bit of NoCal snobbery toward the bankrupt pop culture and urban sprawl of LA. If you stick to the coast then LA seems a bit more interesting. Venice Beach and Manhattan Beach are worth a peek even if only to watch freaks and hardbodies comingling.

Oh, by the way, I do stop by now and then to see what's happening in your world. I haven't posted many replies, but you've created a fine little blog here.

Loq - Kind words like that help me stay motivated in keepin this thing going. one does wonder who's reading and what they're thinking. thanks man.

You're welcome. I understand what you mean. Whenever I write a particularly long post on Iowa Underground and there are few, if any, replies (let alone actually stats proving someone took a peek) then I wonder whether or not I'm just wasting my time.

That's one of the strangest things about the Internet. It's so easy to put your thoughts out there and yet you wonder if a damn thing you write makes even the tiniest bit of difference at all. Feedback is so crucial. Having said that, I'm sorry I haven't said any more than I have here. Time, as always, is a factor. Like anyone else I'd love to have a thousand selves to pursue my interests. Fucking reality (hope you don't mind a little colorful language--just being me, for good or bad).

Oops. That last comment was from me.
